Still Here!
Don’t fear, Lunar Rising are still around! After line-up changes we are currently exploring a new direction but aim to keep the atmosphere and folky elements to our sound. We will be experimenting with introducing new sounds and am looking into how to make performances really one-of-a-kind. Dressed to the Nines
Appearances are everything, or so they say. And as you can see we are not adverse to donning our Sunday best and smiling for the camera.
Last month we ventured out to a serene location, complete with it’s own bandstand to capture our essence by means of photographer Lesley Flower. The pick of the bunch can be seen in our gallery, so why not head over there now and peruse at your leisure?
Some New Songs…
Don your top hats and tailcoats, Lunar Rising will be setting alight Nambucca on Holloway Road this Thursday (tomorrow) at 9pm (more details in previous post below).
The Lunar Rising set-list is soon to feature one of our newest songs entitled Way We Climb. Should you lack the requisite apparel for gig-attendance, fear not, fortunately there is a way around this mortal dilemma: the ‘play’ button below awaits to deliver you from your Socratic ignorance, by giving you early access to an acoustic (and un-named at time of recording…) version of this new song that was recorded just last weekend. The track is also downloadable should you prefer to save it for pudding.
Way We Climb‘s elder sister Embrace, miraculously born just a few weeks prior to her sibling, and originally only baby-sat by members of our privileged Lunar Rising community, is now also available below. The musical equivalent of an all day hugathon, Embrace also features in our new set, which will be showcased on Thursday.

Gig: 10th March @ Nambucca supporting Society
We’re very excited to announce that we’ll be supporting the most excellent Society on Thursday March 10th at Nambucca.
We take the stage at 9pm, so plenty of time for pre and post show merriment!
Also on the bill are there terrific Felix Fables.

Lunar Rising continue their 2011 calendar with a night at the Hoxton Underbelly, taking the stage at 9pm.

CD Production + Gig reminder
As well as being able to download our EP for free direct from our website, we’ve also had a whole bunch of CDs made for those who yearn for a physical copy! We’ll be handing these out at our gig this Saturday 29th at the 229 Club.
All the details can be found in this post. If you’re on Facebook, then hit up the event page and confirm your attendance! Those with a confirmed attendance either via Facebook or emailing us will be added to our guestlist for £5 entry (instead of £6 on the door).
All the CDs are put together by our own fair hands, with a custom made ink stamp on the front and labels on the back.

A New Year, a New Site
Happy new year everyone, and welcome to the brand new Lunar Rising website!
2011 is shaping up to be an exciting year, and we’re going to be busier than ever before! Expect to see a lot more videos on the site, some acoustic recordings and of course, a lot more gigs from us with a brand new line up!

Recording Update
Firstly, a big thank you to everyone who came to see us at the Water Rats last Saturday! We packed the place out and had an absolutely great night. It was our first gig in a while so was good to get back on stage with our new line up which includes Molly (backing vocals) and Pav (drums). It was sadly also our last gig with Alex on violin. We’ve had some great times with Alex and wish her all the best in the future. This of course means a new member of the Lunar Rising family, and her name is Menna! We’ll have a section on the site for her in the near future, so standby!
In other news, we’ve completed the recording for our first EP. It’s sounding great so far and the mixing should be complete within the next week or so. We’re very excited about the recording and can’t wait for everyone to hear it!
New YouTube Videos + News!
Apologies for being fairly quiet during the last month. Allow me to fill you in on whats been happening…
We’re trying out potential new drummers this week, and hopefully a decision will be made very shortly. We’ll keep you updated!
We’ve also got some recording lined up for April, our long awaited EP!
In the meantime, we thought it’d be nice to record some acoustic versions of our songs for your enjoyement. Dom and Jay got together one afternoon and recorded a few songs you might have heard, and also one you probably haven’t!

2010: A look ahead
Well 2010 is upon us and we’re already midway through January! 2009 had been a bit strange for us. Playing the Emergenza Festival was a blast, culminating in a final show at the HMV Forum. Good times!
So here’s to 2010! Hopefully with a new drummer and backing vocalist sorted in the next week we’ll be able to move on to bigger and better things!
